According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported a total of around 72,000 tons of hot-rolled steel bars in January this year, increasing by 11.3% compared to the previous month and falling by nearly 8% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, reaching around 32,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 2% and a year-on-year hike of 13.6%. Other main import sources included Japan, Mexico, Brazil, and China, with separate volumes of around 14,000 tons, 6,400 tons, 5,800 tons, and 3,700 tons.
During the period, the import value was around US$90 million, up by 7.3% month on month and down by 8.2% year on year.
